Mayank Sharma serves as an Associate Professor in the Information Technology & Systems area at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. He earned his doctorate (Fellow Programme in Management) from the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, specializing in IT and Systems, following a foundation in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Calicut. Before entering academia, he gained industry experience at Tech Mahindra Pvt. Ltd.
His research work, which explored online communities within social networking sites through the lens of information system theories, reflects his enduring interest in understanding digital spaces. He teaches courses such as Management Information Systems, Social Media Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence & Deep Learning. His work has appeared in reputable journals, including Enterprise Information Systems, AIS Transactions on Human-Computer Interaction, Computers & Security, and Annals of Tourism Research. He also conducts online Management Development Programs for industry professionals on topics such as Digital Transformation, Social Media, and Business Analytics.
