The respective areas can recommend the Term-wise area core and area elective courses.
There will be one campus visit each term during the course-work. Each visit will be for six days. The remaining course-work hours will be online and spread across the given term. It is compulsory to attend campus visit classes.
The end-term exam will be mandatory for each subject in a given Term in offline mode.
The objective of the CIS and Independent Research Projects is to introduce the scholars to the research process before they start their thesis dissertation. The scholar must undertake two CIS projects. The CIS-1 will be from the beginning of March to the end of June of the first year and CIS-2 will be from January to May of second year.
After successful completion of coursework, scholars will take a comprehensive examination (CE) in an offline mode. The comprehensive examination must be a well-thought-out and rigorous process, which should be based on courses completed by the scholar. The CE should be completed within 3 months from the declaration of coursework grades and the scholar successfully completing the grading requirements. However, it should not exceed four months.
The basic purpose of CE is to evaluate the scholar’s readiness to take a research project. The CE will be designed to examine:
After passing the comprehensive examination the scholar will start working on his/her thesis under the guidance of a Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC). The thesis will be evaluated by a panel of experts from within and outside the Institute. The scholar also has to defend his/her thesis in a public defense in presence of panel of examiners.
The scholar should submit the progress report and presentation every four months
