ABOUT LIBRARY

IIM Kashipur Learning Resource Centre (LRC) caters to the information needs of the faculty members, students, staff, and research scholars. The LRC possesses around 5000 books, many e-resources covering the disciplines of Management and its allied areas. The LRC collection also comprises printed documents such as books, reports, theses, standards, atlases, patents and back volumes of journals. The non-book collection includes material like audio/video cassettes and CDROM discs etc. The LRC is a member of e-ShodhSindhu. It has been subscribing e-journals of Springer Link, Emerald, EBSCO Host, ABI/INFORM, and various digital libraries.

LRC is housed in an air-conditioned building for users to pursue their academic and research activities by way of reading books, accessing electronic journals and internet, etc. It is connected to high speed internet and intranet of IIM Kashipur network. All activities of LRC are computerized, including smart ID cards and separate On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) terminals to know the status of books at any time. The LRC has implemented an integrated electromagnetic security system with RFID for safety of LRC material.

 

General

  1. All Users of the library are requested to carry their Identity Cards, issued to them by the Institute, while visiting the library.
  2. The owner of the Identity card is responsible for the documents issued on his/her card.
  3. The Library will usually send reminders to the faculty and to research scholars for the book due, but non-receipt of reminders is no reason for returning books late.
  4. Books can be recalled in case of an urgent demand for the same.
  5. The borrower is fully responsible for the books borrowed on his ID card.
  6. All personal belongings, except money bag, mobile, notebooks, will be kept at the property counter of the library.
  7. Users must take care of their pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, mobiles, laptop and wallets etc.
  8. Library/Identify card is Non-transferable.

Protocols for Functioning of the Library during COVID-19

Library Working Hours:

  • For Issue/Return: Monday to Friday:  9:30 AM to 5.30 PM
  • For Issue/Return: Saturday:  9.30 AM to 4.30 PM
  • For reference: 09:30 AM to 08:00 PM

The library remains closed on all National Holidays and other Institutional Holidays declared at the beginning of every year.

Discipline:

  1. The library should be used for academic and research purposes only.
  2. All users are requested to maintain silence in the library and adhere strictly to its rules and regulations.
  3. Chatting, smoking, eating, sleeping, making visual aids and using mobile phones etc. is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  4. All users are requested to keep their mobiles switched off or in silent mode in the library,
  5. Any irregularities found may kindly be brought to the notice of the Librarian for necessary action.
  6. The Librarian is authorized to terminate the membership of any borrower if he/she is found guilty of such misconduct.
  7. Seats in the reading area will be available on first come first-served basis.

Circulation Rules:

  1. Reading material borrowing facility is available for the students, research scholars, faculty members and other staff.
  2. Library follows an open-access system.  Books and other materials taken from the stacks should not be re-shelved by the readers. These should be left on the tables reserved for this purpose. Please remember that a book misplaced is a book lost.
  3. The library is fully automated and software-generated transactions are authenticated. These must be acceptable in case of any dispute.

     Entitlement of borrowing of books etc. is given below:

  4. Reference books and loose journals can be borrowed on loan for overnight only. Any issue of the loose journal will be issued only after 4.00 PM and returned next day by 10.00 AM.
  5. Borrowers can get the book(s) reissued on or before the due date, if required.
  6. If a book is required for a longer period, it can be reissued for further period with a prior approval from the Librarian, if there is no demand for it.
  7. No user shall take a book or journal or any other material out of the library without having it properly issued.
  8. The renewal system of the documents is not automatic therefore the books and journals may be reissued at the library counter, if not required by other users.
  9. Reference and Information Services would be provided to the users on demand.
  10. Inter-Library Loan facilities shall be provided to the users on demand through the document delivery service of DELNET, New Delhi.
  11. All books should be returned to the library before going on long leave (i.e. for a month or so) and on official tour etc.
  12. If any faculty member/researcher & students is going to long leave, they will be required to return all library books etc. Only after receiving all the books and library card in the library, a Clearance Certificate will be given to the concerned users.

Damage and loss of library documents:

  1. Users should not deface, mark, cut, or mutilate the reading material in any manner. Users will be solely responsible for any damage caused by them to the documents.
  2. Users should check the books before borrowing that these are not damaged. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should get this statement recorded on the book, otherwise he/she shall be held responsible for the damage, discovered at the time of returning the books.
  3. In case of lost or damaged of single Book/Bound Journal/Loose Journal/ Magazine/CD-DVD by the borrower, the user shall replace the same of that with later edition otherwise an amount the double the cost of the book with processing charges of Rs. 100/- for each book will be realised from the user.
  4. In case of lost or damaged of any volume from a multi-volume set of Book/Journal, the individual shall replace the same with later edition. In case replacement is not possible, cost of the whole volume set will be charged with processing charges of Rs. 100/- for each book. will be realised from the user.

Fine Policy:

  1. A fine of Rs.2/- per day per document up to first 30 days; Rs.3/- per day per book for the rest of default period.
  2. The amount of fine recovered from the users will be deposited to the Accounts Section with an intimation to the concerned member.
  3. A fine of Rs. 1/- per hour per book will be charge for the delayed return of reference books and loose journals.
  4. In case the faculty members/researchers want to waive off their fine on overdue documents, in special cases, a separate approval is to be obtained from the Chairman, Library Committee.

Reprographic Services:

Library's reprographic services are fee based and the users must comply with relevant copyright legislation.

Reprographic Charges are as follows: -

The fee for reprographic services will be determined by the Institute from time to time, on the basis of variable and overhead costs.

  1. Rs. 1.00 per page A4 size Rs. 2.00 per page A3 size
  2. Library also supplies Xerox copy to Institutes / individuals on demand by post on payment.
  3. Some items in the library cannot be copied because of copyright laws, poor condition, of the document or donors restrictions.

Use of computers/laptops etc in Library: -

  1. The computers are kept in the library to search the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and retrieve the data from online databases.
  2. Changing the settings and display of the computers in the library is not permitted.  Readers should also not remove/unplug computer cables/connections, network cables and other peripherals/ accessories in the library.
  3. Users of the library should note that all e-resources subscribed are licensed materials and cannot be shared with outside community as it may lead to copyright/license violation.
