Cultural Committee

About Details

In the midst of the busy MBA life, everyone eagerly awaits the chance to revive their spirits with cultural experiences. At IIM Kashipur, our Cultural Committee is at the heart of this excitement. We believe that embracing different cultures not only enriches our minds but also helps us grow in ways we never thought possible.
The Cultural Committee is like a beacon guiding us through our journey, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to explore and celebrate diversity. From vibrant festivals to friendly competitions and everything in between, our events are designed to bring out the best in everyone.
But our reach goes beyond the campus walls. We proudly collaborate with universities across the country, hosting all dances, singing and drama events in our renowned Annual Festival – Agnitraya, where the spirit of triumph shines brightly.
Here at IIM Kashipur, the Cultural Committee is more than just a group of organisers – we're a community dedicated to making memories that last a lifetime. By every celebration, we aim to make every student feel at home while they are far away from their family.
We are the ones who give students 1% of MBA life, which they post on social media with the most joy, excitement and happiness. We are the ones who push each and every celebration beyond the confines of conventional limits, amplifying the joyous fervour to unprecedented heights. We are the ones who relieve MBA students from the hectic, stressful and chaotic life of an MBA. We are the “Cultural Committee” of IIM Kashipur. We run the show.

Kacofonia
Kacofonia is the flagship event of the Cultural Committee. After covid time, this was the first time when Kacofonia was organised in offline mode. Kacofonia is an event where battles between seniors and juniors take place. This event gives the opportunity to bond together by forgetting senior-junior relations and to fight against other sections as one. It is not merely a competition but rather a war of pride and glory among the sections.
The event conducts various competitions like class decoration, graffiti, sectional rallies, flag making, singing, dancing, fashion shows, stand-up, battle of punches, wheel of fortune, and treasure hunt, to name a few. These competitions help the students to showcase the best of their talents in various creative aspects. This event also aims to give students who are interested in other kinds of extra-curricular activities the chance to participate.
Eventually, the motto is to contribute a little extra at each step to make your section reach the zenith while maintaining the virtue of true sportsmanship. The section with the highest consolidated score, in the end, is declared the winner and bestowed the right to call itself the 'supreme'.

Kashipur/ Bonfire nights
At the onset of the winter season, the Cultural Committee invites the students to enjoy a night full of togetherness, sweet conversations, and a warm and soothing ambience with a fireplace to appease the cold and foggy nights of Kashipur.

Delish December
Delish December enabled Kaspians to unleash the chefs in them. This event was based on the concept of a fair, wherein students cooked scrumptious dishes & sold them to their peers. The culinary talents of students knew no boundaries, students participated in the event with great enthusiasm. 20+ teams participated and presented delicacies like South Indian platter, doughnuts, a wide range of desserts & of course, biryani, cheese cakes, shakes, tandoor chicken etc!
The involvement of monetary rewards made the event even more exciting. The winners were decided based on the maximum number of sales made by the teams. After long due of hostel life, this event gives students opportunity to finally cook for fun and involvement of competition just gives it extra cherry on a cake.

Prarambh
Prarambh is the first big event of the Cultural Committee, which celebrates the diversity of talents of MBA1 & MBA2 students. The battles between both batches determine who did the best. This event aims to give them the opportunity to get to know each other by participating in many competitions and gives them a chance to show which batch is more enthusiastic and has better performers.
The recent edition of Prarambh 7.0 saw some exuberant performances from both batches. The fervour could be seen celebrated all around. The participants participated with great vigour and corroborated the undying sporty spirit of the batches. Prarambh has a wide array of events, from singing and dancing to fashion. The cultural psyche is covered at length as Prarambh gives students a chance to showcase their talent.
Towards the end, the batch with the highest consolidated score from each event is handed over the trophy as well as the bragging rights for an entire year.

Kult-Mania
It was the first time when we celebrated a day full of cultural events. This day was full of joyful events. In the morning, we started with the Republic Day celebration, where we celebrated the democracy of India through many cultural performances, parades, drama performances, flag hoisting and speeches by dignitaries. In the afternoon, we celebrated Kite festivals, which were aimed at fostering awareness of voting in the institute as the election was nearby. They also included awareness speeches and rallies. Later at night, “Kashipur Nights” was celebrated to finally sit down and enjoy melodious music with snacks and tea, underneath the starry nights.

Festivals
The Cultural Committee takes utmost pride in the diversity of the institute and regards it as an opportunity to propagate and spread awareness about various regional cultures. For the same, the committee celebrates oodles of festivals with absolute fervour and amity to pay respect to the heritage and traditions prevalent since time immemorial. This year, the cultural committee celebrated more than 25 festivals, which included Independence Day, Onam, Teacher’s Day, Janmashtami, Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Dusshera, Garba Night, Diwali, Christmas, Lohri, Pongal, Republic Day, Kite flying festival, Holi and many more.
