About Details

The Motion Picture Club (TMPC) at IIM Kashipur provides a platform for students to engage with cinema beyond just entertainment. Through curated movie screenings, interactive discussions, and various competitions, the club fosters an appreciation for storytelling, filmmaking, and diverse cinematic cultures.

Beyond entertainment, TMPC encourages critical thinking and engagement by organizing interactive activities that connect cinema with broader themes, including management concepts, history, and social issues. The club fosters creativity through various competitions, allowing students to showcase their analytical, design, and storytelling skills.

TMPC also builds a sense of community by hosting live screenings of movies and sporting events, creating shared experiences for students across campus. Through these initiatives, the club continues to enhance campus life, offering a platform where students can unwind, learn, and engage in meaningful discussions about cinema.

  • Maintained an active presence on social media platforms, sharing event updates and film recommendations every week. Posted a total of 20 Critique Du Flick Movie Reviews.
  • Increased our online presence during the quarter, reflecting a growing interest in the Motion Picture Club and World Cinema. Gained an increase of 818% in content engagement and 5000+ followers.
  • Organized live screening of two major Government Initiatives:
    • The Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh - Annual Skill Convocation Ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
    • Viksit Bharat@2047 addressing the Vice Chancellors of the Universities and Heads of Institutes in workshops organized at Raj Bhawans across the country, as requested by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell.

The Motion Picture Club continues to thrive as a hub for film enthusiasts, fostering a love for cinema and creative expression. We look forward to an exciting and productive next quarter.

Events

  • Prabandh: An online article writing competition that invited participants to dive deep into the world of cinema. Students explored various themes, from storytelling techniques and character development to the impact of films on society and business. This event encouraged critical thinking and insightful discussions about the art and influence of filmmaking.
  • Adla Badli: A creative online poster-making competition where participants got to reimagine and redesign movie posters in their own unique way. Whether through satire, modern reinterpretations, or artistic twists, this competition allowed students to showcase their design skills and creativity while having fun with their favorite films.
  • Cinephile Conundrums: A movie-themed quiz competition held during Agnitraya that puts participants’ film knowledge to the test. Covering everything from classic cinema to modern blockbusters, the quiz featured rounds on directors, iconic dialogues, soundtracks, and cinematic history. This event was a hit among movie buffs who love to challenge themselves.
  • FilmPhoria: A short film-making competition that gave students an opportunity to step into the role of a filmmaker. Participants wrote, directed, and edited their own short films, experimenting with different genres and storytelling techniques. The competition highlighted the creative potential of students and provided a platform to showcase their filmmaking skills.
  • System Hang: A fun, interactive event designed for all movie lovers. It included a mix of movie-related quizzes, crosswords, and rapid-fire rounds, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere. The event brought together students who enjoy testing their film knowledge while competing in a relaxed and entertaining setting.
