Abstract: Talent management (TM) became a concern for organisations since last two decades when McKinsey consultants created the catchphrase “War of Talent” (Chambers et al., 1998). Organisations were panic stricken as getting the right talent and retaining them was challenging. This case study explores how an Indian pharmaceutical organisation managed talent to overcome TM challenges. Dr. Ketan Patel – CMD, Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd. considered talent as the backbone of a learning organisation to grow. In order to develop a closer understanding of the subject, Qualitative research methodology [refer Exhibit 1(4)] was adopted to carryout research study that allowed direct learning from research subject (Dana and Dana, 2005) The findings of the case study reveal well established and learning aligned TM practices institutionalised in Troikaa. TM played a key role in achieving strategic objectives of the organisation. Expert scientists carried out innovation and developed the drugs for which Troikaa holds patent globally.
