MBA (Analytics)

The MBA (Analytics) program at IIM Kashipur is a two-year full-time residential programme and aims to prepare managers and future leaders who will shape the increasingly technology-oriented and data-driven world. IIM Kashipur focuses on grooming its students to acquire knowledge, skills and attitudes for leadership profiles so that they can seamlessly navigate the ever-changing business landscape. IIM Kashipur nurtures the students through a balanced mix of academics, industry exposure and co-curricular activities.

Objectives

The primary objectives of this programme are:

  1. To provide a comprehensive learning environment for students to cope with the increasing demand for complex data analysis and thus helping organizations to make better decisions.
  2. To understand the necessary principles of different forms of analytics (descriptive, predictive and prescriptive) to facilitate decision-making in practical business settings.
  3. To acquire and use advanced analytical as well as managerial skills to evaluate uncertain and dynamic business environment and to make effective decisions.
  4. To develop the ability to communicate business information to decision makers and policymakers.

On account of COVID-19, interviews of shortlisted candidates will be conducted through teleconference. Details of teleconference would be shared with the candidates after the shortlisting process.

The programme is divided into six terms; three terms in the first year and three terms in the second year. Each term is of around eleven weeks’ duration. The first-year coursework of MBA (Analytics) shall be several courses in common with the Regular MBA program in Terms I, II and III. This shall provide a good foundation on Management foundations. MBA-Analytics students shall be doing certain analytics-core courses in Term I, II, III, that are not part of regular MBA I. During the summer internship, the participants get an opportunity to build a practical perspective of whatever they have learned in the classroom and to warm up themselves for deeper insight through elective and self-study course in second year.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible to apply for MBA (Analytics) programme, a candidate must possess:

1. A full-time Bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent academic pursuit (i.e., 10+2+3), with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (47% for NC-OBC, 45% marks for SC/ST/DAP)

2. Any of the following qualifying exam score:

• Valid CAT-2019 Score
• GMAT / GRE score where the exam was taken on or after May 1, 2018


Reservation Criteria

IIM Kashipur will follow the Government of India norms on reservations for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Non-Creamy Other Backward Class (NC-OBC), Differently-Abled Person (DAP), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates.


Admission Process

The Admission Process shall comprise of the following stages

Stage 1: 

Candidates will have to submit online application with all the required documents in the form of attachments as required on or before 30th April 2020 and pay the application fee (Rs 500/- for candidates belonging to NC-OBC/SC/ST/DAP/EWS categories, and Rs 1000/- for others).

Stage 2:

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their Qualifying Exam Score (CAT-2019/ GMAT/ GRE), educational background (Marks obtained in X, XII and Graduation Degree), work experience, discipline diversity, and gender diversity.

Stage 3:

Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a Personal Interview. Interview will be conducted at IIM Kashipur campus in Kashipur, and if required, in New Delhi and Bangalore. However, the Institute reserves the right to add/cancel any center for the conduct of Personal Interview.

1. Is CAT 2018 score valid for the purpose of application?

No. As stated in eligibility conditions and in admission policy, only CAT 2019 score is valid for the purpose of application. If you have submitted your application using CAT 2018 score, you may re-apply using a valid CAT 2019 score or GRE/GMAT score (on or after May 01, 2018) and notify mbaanalytics[at]iimkashipur[dot]ac[dot]in

2. I have taken GRE / GMAT exam before May 01, 2018. Should I apply?

As per admission policy, GRE / GMAT scores on or after May 01, 2018 are eligible to apply.

3. Is there any minimum percentile or percentage or sectional cut-off requirement in CAT / GRE / GMAT for application?

There is no minimum percentile or percentage requirement for CAT / GMAT / GRE or sectional cut-off requirement at application stage. However, minimum percentile or percentage may be decided for shortlisting purposes after application deadline.

4. What is the CAT/GRE/GMAT percentile or percentage cut-off for General / NC-OBC / SC / ST / DAP candidates?

5. What type of questions are expected at the PI Stage?

At the personal interview stage, we assess the candidate on his/her suitability for the program.

6. Is work experience Mandatory for applying to the program?

Work experience is not mandatory for applying to the program.

7. My CAT 2019 percentile is 85%. Am I eligible for the applying to the course?

There is no minimum percentile or percentage requirement for CAT / GMAT / GRE or sectional cut-off requirement at application stage. However, minimum percentile or percentage may be decided for shortlisting purposes after application deadline.

8. My CAT percentile is too low? Can I apply?

If you feel that your CAT percentile is too low, you can always use your GRE / GMAT on or after May 01, 2018.

9. What should we mention in the “marks obtained” and “maximum marks” field in the application form?

Enter the details from the “marks obtained” and “maximum marks” as stated in your score card. If “maximum marks” is not specified in your score card, refer to that information from the website of your qualifying examination.

10. Is the admission process for MBA (Analytics) independent of MBA at IIM Kashipur?

Yes, the admission process for MBA (Analytics) is independent of MBA at IIM Kashipur.

11. Should I mention the percentile or the marks obtained in the qualifying exam in the application form?

Marks obtained in the qualifying exam should be mentioned in the application form.

12. Can BE / BTech degree holders (10+2+4) apply for the program? The eligibility condition states 10+2+3 system.

The eligibility condition is minimum requirement. Yes, you can apply if you have a BE / BTech degree of four years.

13. Are domestic candidates with GRE / GMAT eligible to apply?

Yes, all candidates with GRE/GMAT score on or after May 01, 2018 are eligible to apply.

14. I am in final year of my Bachelor’s degree program and expected to graduate by May 2020. Am I eligible to apply?

Yes, you are eligible to apply. However, you should have fulfilled the admission requirements by the time of joining, if offered admission.

15. What documents are required for work-experience?

Proof of Work Experience, i.e. relevant Certificate(s) along with first & last salary slips. Specific dates of joining and leaving the organization(s) need to be mentioned. 17. Are there loans available for pursuing the course?

Yes, students may contact banks regarding loans after securing admission offer from IIM Kashipur.

18. Are there hostel facilities in the campus?

Yes, hostel facilities for available in the campus. However, family accommodation is not available.

19. Are there recreational centers in the campus?

Yes, there is a functioning gymnasium, table tennis, lawn tennis and open spaces for outdoor sports in the campus. For more details, please refer this link.

20. What degree is offered at the end of the MBA (Analytics) programme?

Upon successful completion of the course, the students would be awarded the degree of “Master of Business Administration (Analytics)”.
