The Master of Business Administration (Analytics) is a two-year intensive and fully residential program at IIM Kashipur, specifically designed for participants who wish to join the big data revolution and emerge as future leaders in the field of data analytics.

The course provides a comprehensive learning environment to enable students perform complex data analysis for better decision making in the current business scenario. A judicious mix of managerial and analytics subjects equips the student with necessary skills for handling intricate business problems. This program aims to produce future-ready business leaders with sound managerial and analytical skills coupled with impeccable communication skills to define business and social challenges, use analytical tools and techniques to identify patterns, gain insights, develop business strategies and make superior management decisions.

The program provides the platform for holistic development of students who strive to become highly efficient managers with an analytical mindset and an inclination towards data-driven decision making. Students also have a wide array of options to choose from various electives for specialization across domains. The program also comprises of a dissertation component which is spread over the three terms of second year of the program. This component helps a student to identify and explore his area of interest in depth, define research question and then use appropriate research tools to demonstrate his/her capability to do research thereby gaining valuable skills in the process itself.

The two-year MBA (Analytics) programme is full-time residential programme.  The first-year coursework is spread over three terms comprising of core courses that explain the fundamental concepts of management and analytics across the functional areas. All the courses in the first year are mandatory courses. The first year coursework is followed by a  summer internship during which students are required to work on an industry project with an organization for a period of 7-10 weeks.

The second-year coursework is spread over the next three terms (IV, V and VI). The coursework comprises of mandatory analytics courses and dissertation courses along with elective courses. The dissertation component is spread over three terms and is intended to help students find their areas of interest and apply their knowledge in defining and solving a research problem. This will equip students with research capability which is one of the requirements in the business arena. Proper amalgamation of knowledge, practicality and skill development is the need of the hour and the curriculum is designed to mould students into the leaders in data science and analytics.

Financial Assistance

  1. Full tuition fee waiver will be provided under three types of scholarship to first-year and second-year students of MBA (Analytics) Program:
    • Need-based Scholarship
    • Merit-based Scholarship
    • Need-cum-merit based scholarship
  2. The scholarship will be open for all categories of students, including SC/ST/NC-OBC/DAP/EWS.
  3. Need-based and need-cum-merit based scholarships will be given only to students whose total family income from all sources does not exceed Rs.5,00,000 in the last financial year.
  4. A student who has received financial assistance/scholarship under any other scheme of the institute or the Government will not be eligible for any of the need and merit-based scholarships.
  5. Institute will review financial aid programme from time to time, considering such things as any changed student or family circumstances, institutes resources and demand.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible to apply for MBA (Analytics) programme, a candidate must possess:

1. A full-time Bachelor's degree in any discipline or an equivalent academic pursuit (i.e. 10+2+3), with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (47% for NC-OBC, 45% marks for SC/ST/DAP)

2. Any of the following qualifying exam score:

• Valid CAT-2020 Score
• GMAT score where the exam was not taken earlier than May 1, 2019


Reservation Criteria

IIM Kashipur will follow the Government of India norms on reservations for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Non-Creamy Other Backward Class (NC-OBC), Differently-Abled Person (DAP), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates.


Admission Process

The Admission Process shall comprise of the following stages

Stage 1: 

Candidates will have to submit online application with all the required documents in the form of attachments as required in the online application form and pay the application fee (Rs 500/- for candidates belonging to NC-OBC/SC/ST/DAP/EWS categories, and Rs 1000/- for others).

Stage 2:

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their Qualifying Exam Score (CAT-2020/ GMAT), educational background (Marks obtained in X, XII and Graduation Degree), work experience, discipline diversity, and gender diversity.

Stage 3:

Shortlisted candidates will have to appear for a Personal Interview. Online Personal Interviews will be conducted due to COVID-19 situation.


Important Information

1. Is CAT 2019 score valid for the purpose of application?

No. As stated in eligibility conditions and in admission policy, only CAT 2020 score is valid for the purpose of application. If you have submitted your application using CAT 2019 score, you may re-apply using a valid CAT 2020 score or GMAT score (on or after May 01, 2019) and notify mbaanalytics[at]iimkashipur[dot]ac[dot]in

2. I have taken GMAT exam before May 01, 2019. Should I apply?

As per admission policy, GMAT scores on or after May 01, 2019 are eligible to apply.

3. Is there any minimum percentile or percentage or sectional cut-off requirement in CAT / GMAT for application?

There is no minimum percentile or percentage requirement for CAT / GMAT  or sectional cut-off requirement at application stage. However, minimum percentile or percentage may be decided for shortlisting purposes after application deadline.

4. What is the CAT/ GMAT percentile or percentage cut-off for General / NC-OBC / SC / ST / DAP candidates?

5. What type of questions are expected at the PI Stage?

At the personal interview stage, we assess the candidate on his/her suitability for the program.

7. My CAT 2020 percentile is 85%. Am I eligible for the applying to the course?

There is no minimum percentile or percentage requirement for CAT / GMAT  or sectional cut-off requirement at application stage. However, minimum percentile or percentage may be decided for shortlisting purposes after application deadline.

8. My CAT percentile is too low? Can I apply?

If you feel that your CAT percentile is too low, you can always use your GMAT on or after May 01, 2019.

9. What should we mention in the “marks obtained” and “maximum marks” field in the application form?

Enter the details from the “marks obtained” and “maximum marks” as stated in your score card. If “maximum marks” is not specified in your score card, refer to that information from the website of your qualifying examination.

Yes, the admission process for MBA (Analytics) is independent of MBA at IIM Kashipur.

11. Should I mention the percentile or the marks obtained in the qualifying exam in the application form?

Percentils in the qualifying exam should be mentioned in the application form.

12. Can BE / BTech degree holders (10+2+4) apply for the program? The eligibility condition states 10+2+3 system.

The eligibility condition is minimum requirement. Yes, you can apply if you have a BE / BTech degree of four years.

13. Are domestic candidates with GMAT eligible to apply?

Yes, all candidates with GMAT score on or after May 01, 2019 are eligible to apply.

14. I am in final year of my Bachelor’s degree program and expected to graduate by May 2021. Am I eligible to apply?

Yes, you are eligible to apply. However, you should have fulfilled the admission requirements by the time of joining, if offered admission.

15. What documents are required for work-experience?

Proof of Work Experience, i.e. relevant Certificate(s) along with first & last salary slips. Specific dates of joining and leaving the organization(s) need to be mentioned. Self-employed professionals may submit a personal declaration stating the exact dates of their employment along with necessary documents. Yes, students may contact banks regarding loans after securing admission offer from IIM Kashipur.

18. Are there hostel facilities in the campus?

Yes, hostel facilities for available in the campus. However, family accommodation is not available.

19. Are there recreational centers in the campus?

20. What degree is offered at the end of the MBA (Analytics) programme?

Upon successful completion of the course, the students would be awarded the degree of “Master of Business Administration (Analytics)”.
