The Finance Club of IIM Kashipur is a student-driven initiative for fostering a culture of Finance. It was established to enhance the financial knowledge of students through various events, activities, workshops, and knowledge-sharing sessions. Over the years, the club has adapted to the changing requirements and skill sets of incoming students and has inculcated them within its scope to help establish a b foundation of financial knowledge outside the classroom.
Pragati – IIM Kashipur’s Student-Managed Investment Fund
In 2019, The Finance Club launched Pragati, IIM Kashipur’s student-managed investment fund. Operated professionally by selected club members under the mentorship of finance faculty, Pragati aims to provide hands-on experience in portfolio management by translating academic concepts into real-world application.
The fund manages capital contributed by students and alumni, who are allocated units in return. To maintain transparency and encourage learning, the club regularly conducts knowledge sessions explaining its investment approach and publishes monthly factsheets outlining fund performance.
Pragati serves as a live learning laboratory, enabling members and investors to deepen their understanding of financial markets while fostering responsible investment practices.
Aestimatus is the annual flagship case competition of The Finance Club, conducted as part of Agnitraya. The competition is structured across three rigorous rounds designed to test financial insight, analytical ability, and strategic thinking.
The first round comprises a finance-based quiz evaluating domain knowledge and reasoning skills. The second round challenges shortlisted teams with an in-depth case study requiring structured financial analysis. Finalists then present their solutions before an esteemed judging panel.
The Equity Research Challenge is one of the club’s premier research-driven competitions conducted on a pan-India scale. Participants analyze companies within a specified sector and present comprehensive research-backed investment recommendations.
Spanning two competitive online rounds, ERC evaluates contestants on financial modeling, sectoral understanding, analytical rigor, and clarity of thought.
High Stakes is an annual simulation-based event focused on risk management and hedging strategies. Conducted alongside the Kashipur Premier League (KPL), this virtual currency bidding game allows participants to place strategic bets on match outcomes.

Campus Feud is a high-energy offline competition that combines financial awareness, strategic thinking, and teamwork.
The event begins with a quiz round covering finance, business developments, and market scenarios, from which the top eight teams advance. The final stage intensifies the competition with buzzer-based rounds where teams must answer finance and campus-related questions swiftly to accumulate maximum points.
The team demonstrating superior strategy, speed, and collaboration emerges victorious.
The Finance Club collaborates with CFA Institute to organize prestigious competitions such as the CFA Research Challenge, CFA Ethics Challenge, and CFA ESG Challenge at both intra-college and pan-India levels.
Additionally, the CFA Ethics Workshop provides participants with a deep understanding of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct, equipping aspiring finance professionals with strong ethical foundations, particularly beneficial for students preparing for the CFA program.
In collaboration with StockGro, The Finance Club hosts a real-time virtual trading competition conducted over an extended period. Participants trade using virtual capital in a simulated market environment while competing to maximize portfolio returns.
