OSM Club, the Operations and Supply Chain Management Club of IIM Kashipur is a student-run club dedicated to cultivating interest and expertise in the realm of operations and supply chain management. Established during the formative years of the institute, the OSM Club stands as one of the oldest clubs at IIM Kashipur.

Driven by a mission to empower students and enrich their understanding of operations and supply chain management, the OSM Club functions as a crucial avenue for students to deepen their domain knowledge and explore emerging opportunities within the field. Through a diverse array of activities and initiatives, the club facilitates engagement, learning, and networking for the students.

The club organises a series of intra and inter-college events designed to showcase talent, share insights, and foster collaboration among students, industry professionals, and academia. These events, which include guest lectures, case study competitions, simulation events, quizzes, industry visits, and workshops, provide invaluable opportunities for students to glean insights into best practices, emerging trends, and real-world challenges in operations and supply chain management.

Additionally, the newsletter offers a specialized Technical Panorama segment, delving into detailed technical analysis and providing valuable insights on various topics within operations and supply chain management. With the aim of keeping its audience informed and equipped with the latest knowledge, the OSM Club's newsletter serves as a valuable resource for staying abreast of developments and deepening understanding of technical intricacies within the field.

Grant Thornton Advanced Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

The club organizes Grant Thornton Advanced Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification. A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is an individual trained in the Lean Six Sigma methodology who leads improvement projects, analyses data, and helps improve processes by identifying and eliminating non-value-added activities. A combination of Lean Six Sigma & Business Intelligence helps to understand analytics and visualization techniques that can be applied to uncover customer potential and shape product, and service designs, thus enabling to answer a business question better, faster, and with more reliability.

Grant Thornton Advanced Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

The club organizes Grant Thornton Advanced Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Black Belts have a deep understanding of statistical analysis tools and techniques and are capable of managing teams, collecting and analysing data, and communicating findings to senior management. They also play a critical role in training and mentoring other Six Sigma professionals within an organization. A combination of Lean Six Sigma & Business Intelligence helps to understand analytics and visualization techniques that can be applied to uncover customer potential and shape product, and service designs, thus enabling to answer a business question better, faster, and with more reliability.

OPS-HUNT – Intra College Treasure Hunt

This fun-filled event offers participants a thrilling opportunity to put their knowledge of operations and supply chain management to the test through a series of riddles. Armed with clue cards, participants progress through successive rounds, each presenting a new puzzle to reach to the ultimate goal. This event offers a unique treasure hunt experience that combines fun-filled engagement with valuable learning opportunities.

OPS-KASCADE – Intra College Simulation Event

The structure building challenge is a simulation exercise where participants have to construct a structure while facing operational constraints like budget, time, and resources. Using decision modelling under operations research, participants analyse scenarios, optimize resource allocation, and decide on the best actions for desired outcomes. This challenge underscores the importance of applying analytical methods to solve complex business problems.

OSMOSIS – National Level Quiz

The National Level Flagship Quizzing on Operations is a highly competitive quiz competition that assesses participants' knowledge across a range of topics in operations management from supply chain management to process improvement, quality control, and logistics. The event aims to identify and acknowledge individuals with outstanding understanding and expertise in the field.

OPS-BLAZE – National Level Business Simulation

A national-level operations simulation game for businesses provides participants with an excellent opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge and practical skills into action within a simulated business setting. Teams are tasked with showcasing their cooperation, rapid decision-making, and fundamental understanding of operations and supply chain management.

OPERATIUS – National Level Case Competition

A national level case study competition on operations and supply chain management is a great opportunity for students, professionals, and researchers to showcase their analytical and problem-solving skills in the area of operations and supply chain management. It offers participants the chance to apply theoretical knowledge gleaned from academic studies and professional experiences to practical, industry-specific challenges.

OPERACLE – National Level Case Competition

This is flagship pan India case study competition that challenges the participants to come up with the most efficient idea/solution for the case provided. The competition aims to encourage the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the area of operations and supply chain management, and allows participants to apply their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a simulated business environment.

OPS-ENLIGHT – Guest Lecture Series

This is a guest lecture series designed to foster innovation and facilitate collaboration between academia and industry. With a focus on digital transformation, operations and supply chain management, product operations, and enterprise leadership, the series aims to inspire the next generation of professionals. Through engaging talks and discussions, the series promises to offer students a unique and transformative learning experience, equipping them with invaluable insights and knowledge from industry experts.

Industrial Visits

The objectives of Industrial visits organized by the OSM Club are encapsulated in three key principles: “Education, Exposure, and Experience”. These visits aim to raise awareness about manufacturing processes and supply chain practices prevalent in the industry. By providing students with firsthand industrial exposure, the visits bridge the gap between theoretical classroom training and practical learning in real-life environments.

In conclusion, the OSM club functions as constant support to the IIM Kashipur student fraternity in pursuing their interests in the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management. Through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the club maintains and elevates the academic standards of the Institute, fostering learning, networking, and professional growth for future leaders in the field.
