Biography

An IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad alumnus, and a National Scholar, having done the Global Business Leadership program from Harvard Business Publishing, Dr Asit has 33 years of industry and academic experience. Currently he is the Director and Professor at Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Trichy. Prior to this he taught at Jagdish Sheth School of Management, Bangalore and IMT Ghaziabad. Dr Asit played senior leadership roles at ValueLabs, Hinduja Tech, Tech Mahindra and CMC Ltd (now TCS). He has a rich industry experience across diverse business functions like Sales; Strategy and Marketing; International Business Development; Product Marketing. Credited with building several successful corporate brands, he steered marketing function to be a strong business enabler, having activated several integrated marketing campaigns and account based marketing strategy generating significant leads and client acquisitions. He worked with the Guru of Services Marketing, Dr. A Parasuraman, to develop the first Index of Service Excellence in India (iSEI) on the similar line as the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) or Service Excellence Index in Singapore (SEISg). He is currently working with Dr Parasuraman on a project to assess consumers’ technology readiness in India. Dr Asit’s expertise lies in the intersection of industry consulting, teaching and research. Subjects he teaches include Marketing Strategy, Digital Business, Digital Marketing, Services Marketing, IT Sales and Marketing. His research agenda includes Service Excellence, Digital and society. On the board of multiple national and international academic and industry bodies, he effectively built and sustained strong relationships with stakeholders in varied business ecosystems comprising customers, industry associations, analysts, investors, media, academia, and government. He has also been instrumental in guiding CII, FICCI-Tamil Nadu State Council, NASSCOM and the Society of Automotive Engineers in preparing several key concept notes and policy recommendations.
