Design Innovation Centre (DIC) 'NAVAASHAY'-नवाशय , one of the spoke of twenty DICs being set up in the country by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India under the national initiative for setting up of Design Innovation Centre. The centre aims to develop design and innovation culture in the Institute by primarily addressing the problems of the North-West Himalayan region and other national priority areas. It dovetails the presence of three partner institutes (hub) - Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), (spokes) - National Institute of Technology, Uttarakhand (NITUK) and G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUA&T).
नवाशय facilitates its partners to forge mutually beneficial linkages to initiate and assist innovation activities and act as a catalyst and facilitator for Innovation in the country. Its primary objective is to create an ecosystem that connects and facilitates various stakeholders on all aspects of the innovation process including training and support. By promoting innovation, channeling various incentives that benefit the cluster, DIC acts as an incubating body managing the growth of innovation in this ecosystem.
नवाशय is a platform for Innovation activities to facilitate and guide development of ideas into innovative applications that can benefit society directly or can be marketed successfully.

HELP-Himalayan Education Learning Program
In order to encourage the next generation of engineers, designers and managers, 'NAVAASHAY' has launched HELP to for any academic institution looking to enrich their Design Thinking knowledge through real-life experiences. Whether it is a need for guest speakers or an opportunity for students to see what happens in the daily operations of an engineering, agriculture, management, economics etc., we are here to offer our resources. HUM- Himalayan Upliftment Movement
In order to support the unbelievable work performed for the development under Himalayan region 'NAVAASHAY' has launched an assistance program for new startups built around donating engineering/ management and design services to start-ups in need. During the early stages of start-up development, we understand how difficult it is to find affordable access to top tier management and design services. That's why this program will help entrepreneurs to brainstorm, create design / writing case reports / development of management skills.
HILL- Himalayan Innovation of Land to Laboratory
To encourage the locals people 'NAVAASHAY' encourages common man in the society for developing innovative products under the scheme 'HILL'. In this scheme, any common man is welcome to approach DIC with his/her innovative idea/design, if any. If found credible, she/he will be, encouraged under the guidance of a faculty member in the relevant area to bring the idea/design to the DIC IIM Kashipur for market survey/ case development/ strategy planning.
State-of-the-art laboratory and fabrication facilities are developed in partnership with spoke and hub to compliment the facilities in the Institute. This will cater to the needs of the users involved in product development. Work stations are installed for design creation and innovation.
This innovative concept replaces the routine class format in which students do repetitive fixed predefined investigates. The 'Design Kitchen' is based on kitchen concept i.e. here all elements for doing hands on work in real setting are provided and students are given freedom to work on various problems and projects under the guidance of mentors.
This is an Innovation Gallery explores and illuminate's issues and ideas, highlights creativity and craftsmanship, and celebrates the limitless potential of materials and techniques when used by creative and innovative students.
This is a Research Cafe at Design Innovation Centre located at Indian Institute of Management Kashipur have been established to present the better form of work/ research in the field of Design and Innovation for Himalayan region. Its main objective is to develop ergonomic/aesthetic/ usable, sense in the works of innovation by design thinking.
The Cyber library based on the Design Innovation Centre ('NAVAASHAY') are such efforts that there are various books and journals related to design and innovation and online library where research work can be done with the help of various online sites / works / innovators / libraries related to design thinking.
Knowledge Bank is the latest program of 'Design Innovation Centre' under which anyone can compile their innovative ideas that are related to design and innovation and innovative research, under those compiled ideas, if any other researcher or new explorer. If you want to get used to it or want to work on it, then it will be helpful to you and to provide that new idea Program will be combined with that task
Design Counseling is a program of 'Design Innovation Centre, under which students and students studying at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur can remove all the misconceptions related to design and innovation and answer through immediate experimental projects on new discoveries and problems. One can move one step towards achieving.
A Volunteering Program Design Innovative Centre ('NAVAASHAY') invites students and students studying at Indian Institute of Management Kashipur for academic dissemination of works related to design and innovation as a DIC volunteer.

'NAVAASHAY' invites students of schools/ institutes (bachelor, postgraduate) to work with the students of IIM Kashipur, Uttarakhand (India) to address the challenges of North- Western Himalayan Region. On satisfactorily completion of work, certificates will be provide in duration of 6months per year.
